Customer Questions & Answers

  1. Q Can primekote be used over an oil based stain?

  2. Q I am a fan of prime coat particularly on old window sash I always first treat with "Bora-Care"dry time prime coat exterior oil primer long dry time light sand top coat this seams to reduce paint pealing from water soaking into wood this adds a step and drying time when is it ethical to skip the fungicide?
    Answered by the admin

It's basically your decision. The Bora-Care can be a preventative product or a product to treat wood fungus and such.

  3. Q When applying Primekote to old bare wood that is sound, it absorbs into the wood very quickly. Should I keep applying over areas that absorb the product or should one brushing suffice?
    Answered by the admin

As long as you are going to paint over the Primkote, one coat is sufficient.

  4. Q I have treated some rotting areas of my antique wooden window sills with Liquid Wood and filled them with Wood Epox. There are some parts of the surrounding exposed surface that were more sound, and therefore not treated with the Liquid Wood. I would like to prime everything before painting. The paint I will be using is a Benjamin Moore exterior latex paint. Is the Primcote primer a good choice a) to cover both the Liquid Wood treated surfaces as well as the untreated surfaces, and 2) to go under this kind of latex exterior paint?
    Answered by the admin

Yes, you can use the Primkote 8006-1 for your application.

  5. Q Can Primkote be used as a top finish over stained wood? How does Primkote hold up to UV (ultraviolet light)?
    Answered by the admin

No, Primkote 8006-1 is a epoxy primer to be used prior to painting. It's a primer for concrete, metal and wood.
