The workshop focuses on how to restore wood, with special emphasis on window repairs.  We will cover the deterioration of wood, condition assessment, repair design, epoxy repair, maintenance, quoting jobs, and contracting. We will also cover how to avoid common mistakes and costly pitfalls.


Workshop leaders are nationally recognized experts in restoration, John Leeke and Neal Vogel.


About John Leeke:

John Leeke lives in Portland, Maine, and is the proprietor of Historic Homeworks, a consulting company specializing in historic building restoration.   He has been using epoxies for historic building repairs since 1964. He has given numerous workshops on epoxy repairs for clients and has spoken many times at national restoration conferences.  His numerous publications include Wood-Epoxy Repairs for Exterior Woodwork and Save America's Windows


About Neal Vogel:

Neal Vogel is the principal of Restoric, LLC, a restoration consulting and contracting business specializing in historic window and door restoration, located in Evanston, Illinois.  He teaches restoration courses at the School of the Art Institute and Illinois Institute of Art in Chicago, and Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.  His publications include “Window Rehabilitation Guide for Historic Buildings”, National Park Service, 1997, and “Preserving Historic Windows: A Guide to Stabilizing, Repairing and Replacing Older Fenestration”,   Architectural Record, 1992.
